About

A “comfortable wardrobe” means not only having clothing and accessories that are comfortable to wear, but also pieces that you feel comfortable spending money on. I have never had an endless clothing budget, but I have learned that there are things worth saving your pennies for, just as there are things you are better off leaving behind on the rack.

This is why Comfortable WardrobeTM stands for the following values:

My interest in clothes and fashion has been lifelong, but my inspiration to fine-tune my wardrobe and share my experiences around collecting my clothing and accessories is my daughter. Through my stories, I hope to inspire her, as well as other women, to build a comfortable wardrobe – one that reflects our life experiences and grounds us in our identity as women.

This is the inspiration for my brand, and this is my true passion.

Ottilia’s Trousseau

My version of femininity is tied to my wardrobe and the unique pieces that I have collected through the years. My wardrobe evokes memories similar to those of my favorite music, foods and scents.

My clothes and accessories work together to make me feel comfortable in my skin. When I put on just about anything from my closet, I am taken back to the previous times when I wore it. And if I want to feel a certain way, my wardrobe is the perfect place for me to start creating my mood for the day.

These stories about my wardrobe are my interpretation of a trousseau for my daughter, Ottilia.

Fashion as Art

I have been collecting and sewing my own clothes since I was 14 years old and have been reading Vogue regularly since the 90s. I am by no means a fashionista, but this most certainly set the stage for my interest in how we express ourselves through our wardrobe.

To me, fashion designers are artists. Along my travels, I have prioritized visiting design ateliers as much as museums to see and experience how clothing is truly a work of art.

ASAP (As Sustainable As Possible)

Sustainability is about the longevity of a wardrobe. I rarely buy things that I cannot see myself wearing for at least 10 years. And if I can’t afford or find something that I like, I go directly to my sewing machine.

I hope my stories inspire you to add more value to what you buy, and maybe even add value to what is already in your wardrobe. More than anything, my goal is to inspire us all to buy less and appreciate more by reusing, repurposing, or remaking what we have.
